Gods that protect the village are all over Nozawa Onsen, Japan

Nozawa Onsen, Japan - May 2019: Representation of deities, Yachimata Hikonokami as male and Yachimata Himenokami as female, who protect the villagers and prevent disasters from entering the village of Nozawa. You can see these in front of many hotels, minshukus and ryokans. It's in the Japanese Alps and has 13 free public hot spring baths scattered throughout the town. Popular as a ski resort in the winter, it is beautiful in the spring as well and great for mountain biking as well as for touring the many Shinto Shrines, and enjoying festivals.
